about

The album is centered around the Great Southern Hotel in Kenmare (now known as the Park Hotel) and features a fantasy collage of personal and historical dramas that have happened in the town. The album comes with a PDF lyrics sheet so that you can find out what some of the references are about. Which could be an exciting way to spend the afternoon.

Twilight Time takes us through a chiming wall of thick Phil Spector mist, displacing time and leading us up to The Great Southern Hotel of 1955 where a mysterious secret agent is checking in, decades too early for his rendezvous. Meanwhile, teenage dramas of jealousy and obsession and heartbreak are rife throughout "A Pint Of Milk" and "Days That Shook The World". "Snow Day" sees the whole town ground to a halt in a harsh winter of ice and near-cancelled school musicals while "Long Mirror" sees parallel accounts of a river swim in different decades. Finally, on the title track, the secret agent is freed and can return back to his own time . . .

Or, y'know, something like that. That's the gist of it
